Re-adjusting your derailleur is the last thing you should do. If you cleaned your chain most likely you have moved something while doing that and you need to make sure it is back where it was. Most likely is that while cleaning you moved the left hand shifter a little, enough to shift the derailleur from it position, not enough to to cause it to shift rings. Also, check your cables to see if they are out of place or anything.
