Since I started bike commuting, I don't do day trips for pleasure anymore, like along the beach or whatnot. But I end up riding a lot more, because I end up doing more errands on the bike. And I still do weekend tours.
So I guess in summary, when you start riding a lot for a purpose, you get less fun out of riding for the sake of riding. But riding for the sake of getting somewhere good is still great
