Egg protein is "the gold standard" for protein alone, and it terms of price/gram, it is the cheapest. I used to buy protein powders, but I was definitely overdoing it in terms of % pro in my diet. Not all protein is created equal, that's understood, but when you're able to get a complete, high quality protein from such a cheap source like eggs, why buy a powder? Of course, there are non ovo-vegetarians and vegans who may want to look at different (veg.based) protein powders, but for the majority of us, dairy and eggs are great sources of protein. Frankly, the protein powder thing confuses me, because most americans do fine when it comes to meeting their protein needs.
So do most vegans.
