I have performed service work for banks many years, including drive-thru stations, tubes and even ATM machines. Always had to park my vehicle so it blocked the lane for my protection from other drivers.

On several occasions, when asked to inspect a device or fix a minor issue with an ATM, and when I neglected to move my vehicle, to block the lane, there were always a driver that would attempt to force their car into the lane, past me and either use the disable gear or just drive through the lane to continue on their way.

I have had my tool grip ran over, drivers have ruin nice paint jobs when not fitting between the device cabinet and the opposite curb, etc.

It is nice when all is caught on tape when the driver becomes irate about what I did to his car by being there.

If you are permitted to use the lane, I would recommend parking bike across the lane, and dismount for your own safety. You never know.

Many of my sites permit bikers to use the drive-thru.
