i am all too familure with schwinn's unique tire sizes as i am familure with on my 51' schwinn spitfire. i also have a 59' schwinn ladie's single speed "racer" parts bike. fenders and a chainguard, so i don't take racer seriously, but it has what i figured were 26x1 3/8" tires. when i took off the old dryrotted tire from the rear wheel, i noticed no readable size. tried to put on a 26x 1 3/8" tire and it didn't quite fit. maybe about 70-80% beaded on, but obviously not right. the width looks like a 1 3/8th type and i was wondering if anyone knows what size this tire/wheel may be? does schwinn make another kooky size besides the 26x 1 3/4th cruiser size or could this just be a 27" wheel? 27" on a 1959 ladies single speed? funny thing is, i tried a general 26x 1 3/8" tire and a schwinn stamped spitfire 26x 1 3/8" classic tire amd no luck. any ideas on the size?
