One thing to try when you start to pig out is ask yourself if you *really* want the food. Are you eating because you are hungry, or bored? If it's hunger, do you really want to eat a candy bar instead of an apple or banana?
Controlling your weight is all about making conscious choices. You choose what to put in your mouth. You have control over it, so choose to eat the right stuff. That's not saying that you should never indulge, just do it wisely. I used to binge on ice cream and couldn't have it in the house. If I really wanted it I had to go to the nearest Baskin Robbins to get some. Usually the though of the trip was enough to quell the urge, but a couple of times I made the trip to get the ice cream. But I just bought one scoop and went home, I didn't end up eating a whole carton.
