Bent crank arms on Maino Folding Bike?

I got a 70's Maino folding bike out of the trash. Nothing special quality-wise, but it is hot orange with pea green fenders so I'd like to get it operational. Problem: The crank arms (steel/cottered) seem to be bent in. This causes the drive side crank to just barely hit the folding, locking mechanism on the right side of the "downtube." A few mm more and it wouldn't hit at all. The left side is fairly close as well.
Oddly, both left and right crankarms appear similarly curved/bent so I am not sure what to think. I guess the drive side does look a more bent, and that is same side as the locking mechanism. Crank arms don't bend too easy, but maybe these are cheap steel that got warped over time?

Questions:
Anyone have a intact Maino lying around that could tell me if the crank arms are supposed to appear curved or bent? Maybe part of the design (gone bad) to keep the bike compact? Thoughts?
