Also, I saw something on his blog about removing the screws. I couldn't reply on the blog since I'm not registered but I would think long and hard about having them removed. I didn't remove mine and they've been in my leg for 17 years without a problem. The hand may be different but the deciding factor for me was the recovery after that surgery is longer than the recovery form this surgery. The holes from the screws need to close up. I'm not a doctor, but that's my experience.
