I don't know anyone who uses WD-40 who has a problem. This is the way that about half the pros do it... why? Because it works.
Just a tiny bit is all that is needed to get grips on, then they WILL come off if necessary. You don't need to find or carry around extra crap to get your GRIPS on and off. WD-40 is just a standard toolbox item that you should always have. (spray paint? hair spray?) It's just right there, quick, and works the way it should.
Actually the BEST way to put grips on and to take them off is with a air compressor and shooting air under the grip to lift it on and off. Those aren't to convenient to carry in your tool bag either.
