I have a Sachs 7spd (13 - 28) and need a new chain for it. I'd love to get the OE Sachs SC-40, but they seem to be non existant.

Are 9 or 10 speed chains backward compatable? My lbs sez it'd probably cause the chain to ride the outside of the sprockets. Not a good thing.
