Had narrowed it down to a litespeed tuscany I found on sale online and another Ti bike. Over the weekend, I ran across someone selling a Tuscany on Craigslist and it happened to have campy record carbon and ksyerium ssc wheels for around $2,000. The seller told me it was a custom 60cm frame -- I would ride a 59cm ideally in a litespeed (57.5 top tube/82 stand over, etc -- I'm 6'1'' and that geometry works well for me). When I test rode it, It felt a little big to me, but was very smooth and I have to admit the sight of campy carbon, which I never would have expected to have on my ride, was influential. I was torn and walked away from it... then went back and bought it the next day, though I was still a little hesitant. It felt bigger and different from my current Bianchi Veloce 59cm. So, today, have it fitted at the LBS and it's a Litespeed 61cm (59.5 tt/84 S.O.) and they had to lower the seat post pretty damn low and push the saddle as far forward as possible on my thomson (non setback) post... and I'm bummed that I've bought a bike that's too big probably and spent my damned savings! Especially since I should have known better! SO the question: What's the deal with riding a frame that's probably a size (2cm) too big ideally -- what am I losing. I hate the thought of trying to sell it now and possibly lose money and my happy "new bike" moment is a bit ruined. So, yes, I was stupid to rush into it, but what's the prognosis now?? How will this effect descending, cornering, etc....? Big performance loss here?? Thanks...
As was said out here, get a bike that fits. To both move the seat forward and drop the seat down moves you forward to two places (too long), and says that the frame's too tall as well. It's like buying a pair of shoes two sizes too big and putting on three pairs of socks to make it fit. Doesn't work.
