I suspect some limited egress, high speed, high volume arterials would benefit from bonifide preferred lane striping somewhere in the greater Denver metropolitan area.
Much more common, and quite well done on streets here in Seattle, are hybrid bike lane/sharrow designs depending on lane widths, traffic patterning, etc...
one street commonly used as a bike route and recently improved by the city goes sharrow two blocks, double striped bike lane across a highway overpass with emphasized mixing zones at the merges, then back to sharrrows across the highway.
this sharrowed/bikelaned/sharrowed overpass rides vehicularily, rides smooth and improves the overpass.
