It all depends on whether they have a second set of holes (with narrower diameter) drilled into the inner side of the crank's spider arms. Some cranks have them even though they were only used as a double when originally put on bikes.
Here's what a second set of holes for bolts looks like (with the bolts inserted, but you can of course see where they are).
