I used it the other night on my commute home and compared it to my Home-made halogen. It's nearly as bright (actually brighter in the center) and has a similar throw.

Works so well I went back and picked up another for my wife's bike.
Might get one more to replace the 9 LED light I have on my helmet.
Hey, is that the one w/ the vertical ridges (i.e. diffraction grating) on the polycarbonate lens?

I bought a "3-watt, 100 lumen" Husky light with the ridges for $12 (batteries incl)! when my gen cut out on a ride. It casts light across a wide horizontal range (say 10:30 to 1:30 on the "bogies at your six!" scale) but a very narrow vertical, so it makes a great "be seen" light.

The focus is inadequate for optimal "seeing," but certainly would be a great "emergency/limp home" light. The "lid" on the light makes it not visible to traffic roughly abeam you, but the lid part screws off easily (in wet weather, it'd need to be water-proofed; fine as is for dry).

Now permanently added to my tool kit for emergencies.
