I've never tried to do something like that but I think that it your results might depend on the rim. Unless you have a rim that is pretty rigid laterally I'm thinking that it might be wavy side-to-side.

I guess you could try it and relace the wheel conventionally if you can't get it trued to your satisfaction. I mean it's November. What else are you going to do all winter?
