Wow, thanks for all the help, sounds like alot of people are having different opinions about lacing the
wheel.
Here are the specs of the wheel/hub I am building, It will be for mostly races... minus the odd tempo training ride.
The Rim is indeed a planet x pro carbon 101. Drilled for 32 holes. ERD 463mm, No offset of spoke holes, drilled in center of rim.
The hub measurements are:
Pitch circle diameter- 48.00mm
Flange distance- 37.00mm NDS and 17.00mm DS
drilled for 32 spokes.
The spokes are Sapim Race DB 14-15-14 (the only ones I could find short enough without spending a fortune), Calculated 209.5 for NDS laced Radially, 209 for DS laced 1X. I went with the recommendation of lacing 1X on DS from a local wheel builder because of tight angles. However this seems like you could go 2x even... However, I did order lengths for this lace-up. I ordered enough to do either 24 or 32 holes.
And yes, the spoke pattern on the rim would be in triplets... empty-DS-NDS-DS-Empty and so on.
It's really hard to say too. The people who are saying lace 24 sound like they are saying it will balance spoke tension better, but those who say lace it 32 have really good points too...
thanks for the help!
