At least with Ford and GM, their problem isn't technology. Toyota and Honda aside, their current car offerings are very competitive with the rest of the world in terms of performance, quality, and value, and obviously internationally their sales of all kinds of vehicles are huge. Look at the current Saturn offerings. In the US buyers ignore them because of confidence deservedly lost in the past, so the big 3 had to rely on trucks and SUVs for cash flow. The recent high gas prices have killed the only profitable market they had left, and hopefully the gas guzzling is staying killed this time. I vote for letting them go bankrupt. The good will survive and the legacy fixed costs will go away. There's too much excess production capacity for them all to survive anyway.
