The cool thing about the business culture that Toyota has developed is that it works with most national cultures. The Camry plant in Lexington, Kentucky is staffed by locals with American managers. However, the business culture is pure Toyota as are their business processes.
When I toured the plant a few years ago, our guide was a former teacher. She had her local accent but she showed us with great pride how she and her teammates practiced Toyota methods for building cars. It was very cool to hear her use Japanese terms with her Kentucky accent.
Back then there was a
years long wait list to
apply for a job at that factory.
