Dropout spacing could be an issue too. It probably has 120mm spacing, so you will probably have to spread them to get a normal road wheel (130mm) in there.

I concur with the others that this is an unnecessarily awkward unversion. Although maybe it will help reset the karma of the world with so many nice old roadies being chopped up into fixys.
