If you really want a pair of normal looking clipless pedals, buy yourself a pair of your favorite shoes, some 3/8 inch steel plate and a set of these

Remove the insole, tear out about 3/8th of an inch of the stuff in the bottom of your shoe, cut the steel to shape, and glue in with rubber cement. Insole goes back in on top

I mounted my cleat plate with one of the sets of holes, while the other holds the cleat. I now have a pair of perfectly walkable clipless converse all-stars.
