No matter when, Portland is a pleasure for its cycling community, the wide variety of views and understandings of what it means to be a cyclist. Regardless of whether you are a roadie, MTB,Bmxer, gravity biking, recumbents, art bikes..whatever.. there are certainly bretheren here. Of course,summer time and livings easy. The rest of the year, its a crapshoot. You stay here long enough and you will find good weather. But you will always find a cycling community that sees itself as mainstream, not a lunatic fringe. We aren't biketopia yet: we are working on that.

We hope you visit us and see for yourself, what works and what doesn't. And when you go back home, you take ideas and views you have gotten while visiting Portland, and translate them into what works there at your home. We aren't so great, its just so many places need that much more. But there has been a long term investment in human powered transport here. And that investment pays dividends that results in a City we enjoy living in.
