anyway, Plano is hardly a "small town" - it's a wealthy large suburb. drugs have been a problem there for a long time - back in the 80's or 90's there was a rash of heroin overdoses in the high schools.
understand these aren't poor kids. Plano is where the doctors lawyers and white collar types live.
We're in the same athletic district as Plano, Allen, and now one of the North McKinney schools. My kid is an athlete and our school does random drug testing of athletes with parental permission.
My kid plays soccer, and this is one ofthe hot bed recruiting areas in the country. Lot's of competition for rides after high school. Yep, my kid is signed up for random testing, because she asked to be so she could list it on the Clearinghouse site for coaches to see.
There is, sadly, way too much money to be spent on this stuff in my area. I somehow doubt the diligence of the programs in football around here. Maybe it's the 8 million dollar football stadium we have here. With 15K-20K plus crowds at every game it makes money hand over fist.
