Upon closer inspection of the add I saw pics of a Univega. Looking closer I saw canti's, a triple crank, a rear rack. It looked to be about 23". I normally ride a 25", but I knew I could make this work with a bit more seat post and a taller stem.

Next thing I know I'm driving into the city during rush hour to get this bike before anyone else shows up. All I wanted to do was go on CL and look for a frame for my co workder friend. Now I own a vintage tourer.

anyhoo, it's got original 27" Univega wheels mounted on Allow Araya 27x1 1/8th rims which are as true as ...something that's really true.
Suntour Mountech components, Sakae rando bars, christophe toe straps, diacomp brakes, and all the touring braze ones complete with dual eyelets front and rear. Everythign works nicely and moves as expected. The frame says that it's triple butted. It's called a Univega Viva Tour. I really like it a lot and plan to make it into my long tourer and occational commuter. However, if anyone has something similiar in a 25" I'd be willing to trade

That's a really nice find! Congratulations!!

I'm really sad right now that I don't have a 25" touring bike to trade with you, because the Univega looks to be the bike of my dreams ----- in my size.

If you ever decide you want to sell it, and don't mind shipping to Boston, please contact me first.

Have fun with it.
