looking for a 27" tire without the yellow walls

So this isn't about cyclocross racing but about cyclocross tires...

I decided I would commute through the winter this year rather than hang up my good bike and ride the bus, so I set about building a single speed winter bike out of the standard old steel road frame, etc. I figured cyclocross tires would be good for the Minneapolis winter; narrow enough not to slow me down too much when it's dry and cut through the snow and crap when it's there, but with a little extra grip when the going gets sloppy. So far so good. I kept the outrageously heavy, tough old 27" rims from the original bike, thinking they'd be good for winter.

So here's the question: has anyone ever seen a 27" cyclocross tire without those STUPID yellow "white walls"? I mean, I get that it's a minor point, but they're awful looking! I just don't understand why there's an assumption that just because you have an old frame means you want old looking tires.
