This. Just as with cars, the people who hate on nice bikes are merely jealous that they don't have one, or that they don't look as cool as I do when they ride theirs. I have a pretty a nice bike, and though I'm pretty slow, I bought it because it was fun to ride, not because it went any faster than the "lesser" bikes I looked at at the same time.
