The curbside looks absolutely stupid in person, yes, but that was only a minor part of my argument against the bike. I say, build your own - he'll have a unique and higher quality ride and would perhaps save some money. And if he builds it up exactly as he likes it, there's less chance he'll regret the purchase of the curbside in a few months, leaving the bike to collect dust (highly likely - anyone who likes this bike must be temporarily insane but will eventually come back to their senses).
