i don't know, it doesn't bother me at all. what i like is it covers the area between my collar and the bottom of my hat and makes a huge difference. the one in the picture is a Patagonia fleece one, but I have a Capoforma nordic style hat with the drawstring top that opens up to use as a neck gaiter as well, it's just a little lighter weight. Rapha even has a new 40$ merino one (actually not that outrageous for Rapha).
