I couldn't have been happier with my purchase from BD either. I was looking at 29ers at the LBS and the BD bike was $500 less for a similarly equipped bike. Granted, I did round file the bars, stem and seatpost that came with the bike, but I had all of the replacement parts in my stock of extras. Even including the 'upgraded' parts, I still came out waaaay ahead.
I've also purchased several things from BikeIsland (BD's parts warehouse) and always received the parts very quickly. I bought my Reynolds Ouzo Pro Cross fork from them. I got an email apologizing for the fact that it wasn't in stock and it would be an extra 4 or 5 days to get it.

Top notch service from the BD folks...
