Just picked up a Trek 1000 '05 for $600 from the LBS. Very nice bike, got about 120 miles on it at this point. They threw in a low-end computer for free, so I didn't argue :-P I'd say everything is good, although I added a rack, trunk bag, a light front and back.

Things that could be improved:
-The brakes: they are a bit weak and mushy...I am putting 105s on soon.
-Shifters aren't tip-top, they are very good but sometimes mis-shift. Shifting from the smallest to middle chainring, you sometimes need to push the shifter a little further, otherwise, it will not shift.
