Break-away rims! That doesn't sound like a wheel I would want to ride on. Reminds me of the old tear-away jerseys of college football. Seeing a game with a bunch of jerseys on the sideline to replace the torn ones during the game. Watching a running back run with his jersey in shreds. Though, I did play half a rugby game in the same condition.

I could just see someone riding these break-away rims, they hit a pothole and the rims shatter into hundreds of pieces. Or are they designed to break apart like toy airplanes, so that you can easily put them back together and the individual parts don't get damaged?
