Got a nice 10 footer at WaltMart, also just picked up a mini one (5 foot maybe) at HomeDepot for 1.99. Many have both english and metric on the same tape so if you try to find a metric only one that could be the cause of you not finding one.
Many, if not most, over-the-counter tape measures have combined Metric/English scales printed on them. I have a couple of trade-show give-away 6-foot tapes and a metal "yard-stick" from True-Value Hardware Stores, all from decades ago, that have both scales on them.
Even my wife's dress maker/quilters cloth tape measures have both scales so you could get something suitable at any Jo-Ann Fabric Store.
