Sh*t and Bother, Apple Care to the rescue.... on my second drive, speaker on the right is blown. The case is warped somewhat as well but nothing I do for that. Heck even Windows will identify bad sectors. MACs have been typically lackluster in the drive maintenance arena.

Good God DOS? That simply won't do in this day and age. We like bikes BTW!!!
I just remembered: there is a diagnostic disk that came with your MBP, and it might just perform a surface scan of the drive. If you can't find it, I will burn you a copy of mine and ride it over to you. Let me know.

FWIW, the new MB and MBP with the CNC Alu body is much more rigid than the old MBP design. Case warping is why I returned several MBPs shortly after purchase.
