The doctor didn't tell me I was pre-diabetic, but she said I was getting on that road. With South Beach Diet I made great strides to reverse that. It worked for me; not sure if it will help you at all since it sounds like you're already eating consistent with the intent of that diet. But still... pick up a copy of the book at the library and read the first section where he talks about the diet. He does a pretty good job of explaining the whole belly fat-diabetes-carb connection.
