I've had plenty of people of other races, religions, "scenes", jump to conclusions or make surface assumptions about me.
That doesn't make "hate" everyone associated with them.
To me it's more a personal flaw/shortcoming of that particular person, not a whole group of people.
So to say "Oh you're wearing a neon fanny pack. You think that's cool?"
Guess what? YOU ARE DOING THE EXACT SAME THING?
Judging someone you don't know based on simply what they are wearing.
And also I don't understand why everything has be a counter-culture/movement.
I doubt anyone who walks around with a neon fanny pack thinks they are leading some sort of revolution.
Just face it that people have different tastes. And now more than ever with the internet and everything being a click away, it is a lot easier for people to indulge in their taste.
You said it yourself "they come from parents who give in to their every whim"
So why would they fight an establishment that has given them a lifestyle which they seem to enjoy?
Until they have to start riding in the back of the bus and use "hipster only" bathrooms I really don't see what they have to rebel against.
I'm sorry but the whole hipster hating thing reeks of people who never grew out of high school or have a low self esteem.
Just do you.
Sorry. Hipster look like dorks and put on airs. Why do you wear a fanny pack? because you think you are being hip. WHy do you wear neon shoes and tight pants? because these things are "in style". The style is stupid and this is a case of mass-delusion, group think... bad design by committee... its a legitimate logical fallacy... and the whole culture is caught in one... one stupid idea compounded on the last one...
And no, I've never felt intimidated by a hipster. I've never felt "uncool" in their eyes. In fact, I think hipster bars and parties are about the LEAST intimidating places to go... I'd feel safer at a hipster party where I KNEW everyone hated me, then going to a frat boy party as a complete stranger... I once was at a hipster party and they tried to throw me out. Four of them approached me and threatened me. I didn't say a damn word... I was honestly bored and not intimidated... I didn't acknowledge their presence and sipped my beer, needless to say they just slunk away and I stayed at the party as long as my girl wanted..
I don't think hipsters understand so I'll convey it easily, like the strong male role model you've lacked all your life-
You look stupid. And like a huge *****.
You want to talk about rebelling against the system? Why rebel? because America has literally been being sold out right under our feet. our rights are being taken away and the police state grows... yeah i guess america is perfect, what's there to rebel against... jesus christ...
And I have low self-esteem? Because I hate how everyone copies everyone else? For ****'s sake... what kind of bizarro universe do we exist in?
