Today I rode the route I normally do on a group ride.
I started my interval where I normally "attack" on a 1/2 mile long hill coming up from the river. It's a rolling course along the river, usually good for about 16min of fun, fast, hard riding. Well, I'm in pretty good shape, but a section I'd normally use as a springboard to get rid of any would be hangers-on cracked me today. Coming up from the river, 200m section that I'd estimate at greater than 20% (I'm pretty strong, and it requires 39x23 and some wicked torque); I simply didn't have the fitness to hit it hard, recover a bit below FT at the top, and roll on. Oh well. That's winter.
