I mentioned my stupid fall last week. Well Monday, just a block from the office coming in, I get right-hooked by a car and go down again. This is getting ridiculous. I have a nice collection of road rash and bruises on my right hand, arm and knee (goes with the healing rash and bruises on my left arm), but the worst part is I hit the curb with my chest, cracked one rib, and sprained a bunch of others.

I was riding the Airborne, which seems to only have sustained a bend in the rear rim and some abrasions on the right brifter.

But I haven't been able to ride since Monday. I actually worked a full day Monday, but it was getting pretty bad by the end of the day so I had my wife come and pick me and the bike up. I went to the doc the next morning.

Interesting about ribs. They don't tape them or anything any more. They give you pain killers, tell you "if it hurts, don't do it," and deliver a lecture about how important it is to breathe deeply and cough despite the pain, so as not to develop pneumonia.

I really wanted to ride downtown Sunday; the USPRO championship is here -- the route goes right past the front door of our building and the finish line is just a couple of blocks up the parkway -- and it's always fun to ride around on race day. I still have hopes that the pain and swelling will be gone by then.
