That's great, Bob. There's no telling how much good can come from such a piece--it's bound to make a lot of readers give some thought to cycling, and maybe some of those will mention it to their friends, etc.

My big newspaper moment was in July 1993, when The Kansas City Star interviewed me and two pedestrians for a feature called "Carless in Kansas City." I was already excited about it, but practically floored when the paper called me at work and wanted to send a photographer out to take photos of me leaving work on my bike that day. Luckily I'd ridden my bike! (And had my big Jayhawk KU T-shirt, which was nice.)

The photographer got there as we closed the office, and ended up driving his car alongside me as I rode across the James Street bridge, snapping his Nikon with one hand and more or less steering with the other. The result was a big color picture on the front page of the Style section, at the head of the article, on Saturday!

No glory since then, but that was a treat.
