Right now, the local (overpriced) LBS's are getting killed by Performance in my area.
My preferred shop has 2 staff, 1 is a bit slow and learning, the owner is brilliant about all things bike related. When I bought my bike, it took 4 hours in the shop for fitting etc as he had to constantly leave me to serve other customers. I didn't mind because he had awesome prices, was prepared to give me a cash discount for a newly released bike, and knew his stuff. He doesn't try and overcharge oblivious people and makes sure they know what they are buying and what for. That's really all you can ask for in a retailer IMO.
