Tri/TT frames are often used by racers for crits or circuit races (which are usually no more than 40 miles), as the aero frame and TT-geometries help them blow the competition away. If the course had any major climb, however, they would be at a disadvantage quickly.
Examples? The only one I know of is the Fuji Aloha ridden by Ivan Dominguez, but it is a TT frame with road geometry...
