New to Refurbishing/Restoration (not to mention road bikes)

Hi there
I recently found an old Huffy 626 in my neighbor's trash, and as I could use a road bike for casual use (ie: getting around town) I decided to fix it up over winter break. The bike is in okay condition for its age; just a little rusty, has a cracked brake lever, and could use a ton of grease. The biggest problem is that the wheels have some loose and bent spokes, as well as some rust.

I'm new to fixing up old bikes, and I was wondering if anybody could help suggest good, CHEAP solutions as to where to find new wheels. They're 27inches, and its a 12 speed bike. Any other suggestions are welcome too!

I know this thing is "nothing special", but I'm already attached to it. I'm not looking to put too much money into restoration, but its my first garbage rescue and i want to do it right.
Also, if anybody knows any type of history, or has any additional info about the model, it would be cool to know!

thanks!
