Thanks for your input Roody. I'm glad that you pointed out that you would have more confidence in a farmer that has proven himself to "deliver to goods" at a farmer's market first.
I have thought of using a truck for hauling to a farmer's market. I have an S-10 short bed that is paid for, but it may not be bid enough. I could possibly pull a trailer behind it, and that would solve the problem. If I would have to buy a bigger truck, a half ton chevy longbed with the 4.3 ltr V6 would be strong enough, fuel efficient for its size, and cost effective when compared to diesels with rear end gears for efficiency.
I just took a look at the bikesatwork.com website, and they state that their larger trailers can carry loads up to 300 lbs.
I still think the ideal green method of bringing the produce to the market would be a Lightfoot trike with a built in bed plus a trailer behind it. Though, a Bikes at Work alluminum trailer would be pretty good too. I'll have to try it to see if it is feasable.
I just took a look at the bikesatwork.com website, and they state that their larger trailers can carry loads up to 300 lbs. Will 300 lbs of food be enough to produce enough income for me? Possibly it could be if I sold 300 lbs twice a week. The real question would be if I could physically handle the load and keep pedalling for the distance.
