I live in a tropical swamp and ride almost everyday. I am comfortable wearing light weight wool slacks and cotton blend shirts. For work, I wear a light wool sportcoat. I find that light wool fabrics breaths well and dries rapidly if a bit of rain comes by.
I have put BMX type pedals on most of my bikes. They work well with any kind of foot wear, from sandals, to running shoes, to wingtip dress shoes.
I often carry a rainshell in my seatbag. My favorite weighs almost nothing, folds up about as small as a pair of gloves, "breathes" in hot weather, yet sheds moisture well. Some new "miracle" fabric. "Propore"? Most larger bike shops carry them.
