+1 There is a guy who lives near me who rides a Trek tourer and he is quite heavy. I don't think he tours . . . at least if he does, he doesn't keep the racks on his bike. But, he rides a LOT. He also mashes a pretty big gear up front, and seems to have no trouble keeping a decent pace. I rode with him from La Mesa, down through National City and Chula Vista, and out to Imperial Beach. He led the whole way (reasoning aloud that it made no sense to try and draft behind me . . . he's at least 8 inches taller than me and 100 lbs. heaver), and he kept a pretty even pace of 18-20 mph the whole way. I was suitably impressed.
Frankly, it doesn't really matter. Anybody who enjoys riding is ok in my books. Fat, skinny, ugly, pretty, rich, poor, Black, White, espero k verte en el camino.
