The Bikepedia picture shows the mount right behind the dropout. It's a little dark circle just behind the front axle. wrk101's picture shows the mounts a little more clearly on the rear.

I agree with Herbie53 that you can mount regular fenders on a mountain bike with wide tires. But it doesn't take much snow or ice to clog them up and make riding difficult. My set up has a bit more clearance if you are riding in snow.
