Another Old Bottecchia...
Here's a similar old Bottecchia with a bit less rust...and it's red! Since taking these photos, I've disassembled the bike (except for the headset and bottom bracket), and detailed it from top to bottom, so it looks a bit cleaner now.
Actually, I don't believe Bottecchia's were identified with a model name, though the original receipt refers to it as a "Bottecchia SL Athena"; the SL obviously refers to the Columbus SL tubing.
For those that have an interest in the details, it's a mix of Croce D'Aune (hubs, headset and crank), Chorus (brake calipers) and Athena (deraileurs, shift levers and bottom bracket) components, as equipped on the day of purchase in March 1991. Even the rims are Campagnolo (Gamma Strada...admittedly, not the top of the line). I still have the original receipt...out-the-door cost was $1,032.97, which included the pump and a $50 "pedal credit" (I think I was looking to save a few bucks at the time and this represented a switch from Campagnolo pedals to Look branded pedals which were said to work just as well at the time).
