Nokian studs wearing down fast ??
Ok this is my second winter on my nokian extremes 294's. I put these tires on around november and run them until march, about 4 months out of each year. My commute is 24 km round trip, along roads, mups and sidewalks, so most of the time the tires are riding on pavement, a lot of times I purpously ride along sidewalks because there is hardpack snow and ice and this doesn't wear the studs as much as the pavement. I was inspecting my tires and I noticed the studs are rounded off and shorter and not as sharp as they were last year, I still get good grip on ice but it's not excatly as good as it was when the tires were new. The rear tire slips more now then last year ,when I am climbing icy hills.
I weigh about 180-190 lbs with all my gear and supplies.
For those of you who run studded tires , how many winters do you usually get out of them before needing to replace them ? I really like those tires I think they are worth the money and they make riding on ice a lot of fun, but they are expensive I just hope that I can at least get 3-4 winters out of them before needing replacement.
