I did 57 miles today, the most since I started riding again in February, and perhaps the most I've ever ridden in a day. Temperature was ideal- 50 degrees when I started, less than 60 still when I finished. There was a wind out of the northeast to contend with at 10-15 mph for the whole ride, but on the legs when I was downwind the going was awesome. I did the mileage in about 4:15 of riding time (5 hours minus meal/rest stops which I figure came to 45 minutes), which is a little over 13 mph. For many of you, that would suck, but for me, to sustain that over 50 miles, well, I'm pretty pleased with that. I should also point out that I did the ride on a 25-year-old bike I pulled out of a dumpster a week before Christmas. A map of my route is
here.
