ill never understand why people skimp on toe straps, particularly when riding brakeless... as the straps essentially your brakes as is! I wouldnt trust my life, or teeth or bones, to some 10 dollar nylon straps.

Double layer laminate straps with strong buckles are the only way to go. MKS (my personal favorite, due to lack of huge logos), Kashimax Toshi, Binda, whoever.
