I get friendly waves from the cops here in Fort Worth. The only problem I've had with cops involving bicycles is when I got a ticket for illegal left turn (I thought it was okay for two lanes to turn left, but only one was legal) while I was in my car, and got pulled over by a cop on a bicycle!
