Just because he ran away doesn't mean he isn't about to die. I saw a dog get run over by a pick up. The dog got up running away. Later that day, I saw the dog dead on the side of the road. The internal injuries are deadly, not just immediate death.

But, last summer, I had my dog outside playing and I hear a big thump. I looked around and noticed a squirrel in the middle of the road. He got up and ran away. I realized that the damn thing must have fallen out of the tree, a good 30 to 35 feet drop. I was amazed he could get up.

I haven't ran over any squirrels, but I have killed a chipmunk. I got him on a MUP. I was riding along and I feel my rear wheel hit a bump. I thought that was strange because I didn't notice anything on the path. As I come back around a little later, I noticed the dead little guy laying right where I felt the bump, so I guess it was my doing.
